The Mongol Empire Hall features historical, archaeological, and ethnographic exhibits documenting the history of the Mongol people and the vast empire that dominated world history for two centuries. During the 13th and 14th centuries, the Mongols conquered numerous Eurasian nations and established a colossal empire—unparalleled in human history—that ranks second only to the British Empire in terms of territorial extent. At its height, the Mongol Empire encompassed over 50 nations and ethnic groups, organized into five major constituent states. These are historically known as the Golden Horde, the Chagatai Khanate, the Ilkhanate, and the Yuan Dynasty. The hall chronicles the history of the Mongol principalities that predated Genghis Khan, the rise of the Great Mongol State, and the subsequent era of the empire under Genghis Khan's successors.
In the "Mongol Empire" permanent exhibition hall, the city of Karakorum—the ancient Mongol capital—is brought to life through a VR (Virtual Reality) reconstruction based on site plans and excavated architectural remains. Additionally, AR (Augmented Reality) technology allows visitors to access detailed explanations and video content regarding the function, symbolism, and historical traditions of various artifacts, including traditional dwellings (gers), hunting tools, ornaments, weaponry, horse tack, standards, carts, coinage, and architectural decorations. Through these immersive experiences, the history of the Mongol Empire is presented to the audience in an engaging and captivating manner.
